Barking Back at Worries:
Playful Strategies for Identifying & Managing Childhood Anxiety
Roughly one-third of all children and adolescents struggle with anxiety at some point during their youth. Even if a child does not have a diagnosable anxiety disorder, everyone has worries! In this presentation, Dr. Ohlenforst offers playful and developmentally-appropriate tools for identifying and managing childhood anxiety. She'll review helpful strategies for "barking back" at worries, as featured in her co-authored book, Moose the Worry Mutt Goes to Doggie Daycare, a therapeutic children's picture book that teaches children how to grow from WORRIER to WARRIOR by changing their thoughts and facing their fears.
While Moose has [known] fans ages 3 to 74, this presentation may feel most pertinent to parents, caregivers, and educators of children ages 5-12. Join us in learning how to use helpful tools like Moose to start healthy conversations at a young age, thereby de-stigmatizing anxiety and promoting effective management of stress/worry across the lifespan.
