Dr. Calmenson is a licensed psychologist specializing in family and couples therapy.  More specifically, Dr. Calmenson works with clients wishing to strengthen and/or heal various types of meaningful relationships, including (but not limited to) relationships among spouses, parents, intimate partners, siblings, friendships, and/or relatives.  She employs integrative interventions to meet her clients’ needs, incorporating her research and training in CBT, psychodynamic, attachment, systems, and emotion-focused theories.

When providing family therapy, she works with families and children of all ages and specializes in: 

  • Emotional and/or behavioral difficulties (often among children/teens)
  • Anxiety among family members
  • Concerns related to boundaries and limit-setting
  • Communication concerns
  • Perfectionism
  • … and a variety of other presenting concerns

When working with individuals, couples, and dyads (2 people in some form of relationship with each other), she specializes in concerns related to:

  • Communication

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Substance abuse
  • Prior relational and/or sexual trauma
  • Complex trauma

 Dr. Calmenson received her doctoral degree from the APA-accredited Counseling Psychology Program at the University of North Texas, where she worked with adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups across clinical rotations in a variety of therapeutic environments. She completed her APA-accredited Predoctoral Internship at the Community Reach Center, located outside Denver, CO, where she specialized in treating couples and families with mental health needs resulting from traumatic experiences.  Dr. Calmenson completed her postdoctoral fellowship here at Therapy Dallas.
