Dr. Desai (formerly Parikh) is a school psychologist specializing in individual and family-based intervention for children, adolescents, and young adults. Having joined Therapy Dallas as a Postdoctoral Fellow under the supervision of Dr. Ohlenforst and Dr. Horton, Dr. Desai specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety Disorders and Depression, and in Parent Consultation for a variety of emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties. She also enjoys working with individuals exploring cross-cultural concerns and transitionary phases. Her background in school psychology has awarded her the privilege of consulting and collaborating with teachers and school faculty, behavioral specialists, physicians, other health professionals, and family members. She is fluent in Gujarati and has a basic understanding of Hindi.
Dr. Desai received her doctoral degree from the APA-accredited School Psychology Graduate Program at Texas Woman’s University, where she worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families across a variety of school settings. Throughout her training, she provided therapy and assessment for children and adolescents with a variety of diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, neurological disorders, and low-incidence disorders.
