Jennifer Allison is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate and National Certified Counselor supervised by Sarah Rees, MS, LPC-S, RPT-S. She specializes in play and activity therapy for children and pre-adolescents, as well as talk-based therapy for adolescents and adults. Her primary areas of focus include evidence-based interventions for anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anger/aggression, and selective mutism.
Jennifer takes a warm, collaborative approach while tailoring treatment to each client’s developmental needs and therapeutic goals. Prioritizing interventions that foster self-compassion and meaningful growth, Jennifer specializes in incorporating expressive arts, sand tray therapy, CBT, and therapeutic games. Whether using play, creative activities, or conversation, Jennifer strives to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and empowered.
When working with children, Jennifer incorporates regular parent consultation, working closely with caregivers to support growth and enhance progress between sessions. Her specialties in this regard include: SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions; Yale Child Studies Center), an evidence-based parent-based treatment program for parents of children with anxiety and/or OCD; Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), to address anxiety and OCD-related concerns; and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), to strengthen the parent-child relationship and support emotional expression.
Jennifer earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern Methodist University. Throughout her practicum and internship experiences, Jennifer gained experience utilizing play-, activity-, and talk-based therapies to address a wide range of presenting concerns in children, teens, and adults. She has provided counseling services in private practice, school settings, and community mental health, working with clients across the lifespan.
