Dr. Solt is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor specializing in Play and Activity Therapy for children and in talk-based therapy for adults. She specializes in developmentally sensitive interventions for anxiety, grief, trauma, and attachment concerns, and in parent training for a variety of presenting concerns. Dr. Solt’s specialty in Child-Parent Relationship Training (CPRT) enables her to work collaboratively with parents wishing to understand and respond more effectively to their children’s emotional and behavioral needs.
After receiving her PhD in Counseling from the University of North Texas in 2003, Dr. Solt served as an Adjunct Professor and Supervisor in the UNT Counseling Department. In 2007, she joined the SMU Department of Counseling, where she served as the Clinic Director of the SMU Center for Family Counseling (2008-2011) and as a Clinical Professor since 2010. As evidenced by her long-standing career in academia and numerous publications in academic journals, Dr. Solt is an ardent educator and supervisor. She provides regular supervision and consultation in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Child-Parent Relationship Training (CPRT), and has served as a play therapy supervisor for the UNT Center for Play Summer Institute since 2000. Earlier in her career, her therapeutic services included the provision of school crisis counseling, general crisis assessment and counseling, in-home counseling, and agency counseling. Dr. Solt has been in private practice since 2000.
